I had a small window today to christian one of my new ....
"Hardwood Stemmed Avon Floats".
Todays target fish was an Irwell Grayling, not the ghosts they once were but any winter coarse fish on the Irwell is a big ask !!!!!

Full right up and more pics on the blog. ?

I like things I use to be out of the ordinary. I have for example 2 custom made torrix's which are totally unique. I am musing about a few of your creations fitted with a frixon but appreciate that may offend your sensibilities and or professional standing. I asked recently one professional float maker and I can still hear his piecing scream, decreasing of course as he ran/motored or trained away. Is it something you may consider.

For a while I worked on a wildlife reserve in Namibia. This little fella dropped one of its quills whilst bumbling around the yard of the research station. It's been sat in my drawer as a memento, but a few weeks back I finally did what I'd been threatening to do for a long time and turned it into a float. Not a terribly elaborate colour scheme, but it works well. It cocks at 2AAA, but I've been using it with 2g and fishing it with the lift method. First fish below, but it's since had its first double over pellet.

Arrived this morning Mike. Even better in the flesh than photo. Do I recall correctly that you said you use Polaris with a quiver? Never tried that. Not meeting Mark after all sadly.

I do and without any issues. The Silverlite, Parabolix, PI Carbonactive and a Greys Torreón so far. I have also used it with a Tryptich but you wouldn’t expect any issues with that. Out of interest I tried the balsa one and a newish no 2 and the former is as light and much better than the latter and with much improved visibility. The latter may have been unused because the others were not very good imo. They performed perfectly yesterday with my 10’ bomb rod and gentle lobs of about 25 yards or so. For telling you where your feeder is for firing in pellets, gb or maggots there is nothing else and I know one patch of water looks very much like another.

I will try a quiver rod. Stupidly thought it couldn't be done. The Avon I pick up Tuesday should be spot on for it too. That's it for me then. No more rods, not even as gifts! Enough!
