Cant believe my luck today in that I have acquired new,
2 x Drennan Specialist 12.10 rods, totally complete save 1 missing label and a 12' super specialist duo 1 1/4.Looking at recent sold models on ebay clearly that are of some repute but frankly before mid morning I had never heard of them. I suspect they deserve to be with real barbell fishers. We have nothing bigger than 7 lb locally I wonder if anyone knows if there is a club who may have members interested who will really appreciate them. Ebay which I use seems the wrong venue somehow.Alec

The super specialist 11/4 was my favourite rod till someone nicked it from my caravan whilst on holiday. By that time they had stopped making them. If you are going to sell it i may be interested in the right price.

Sounds like a cracking deal.

Point is many people want the new and better carbon now being produced by Drennan. It's why some rods don't sell or sell for next to nothing. A few get like a cult type status but to be honest aren't a patch on the newest rods around. And rods have become so cheap now days, most are great quality too.

Ive still got two very old quiver rods made by Drennan. One is just over 11' and has a 1 oz tip that is simply amazing with big roach. But there are better about now it's just I've made it a cult rod in my own mind. I should give it to the local fishing club, like many I've given before. Many young kids cannot afford to start fishing and rods/reel are always welcome, just a thought if they came to you free?

I'm not that sure that drennans latest rods are their very best, I mean I still have a drennan im8 specimen float rod and it's just as slim as an acolyte and not a lot heavier. It's has fuji guides and is finished off second to none, it's only downside (to some people) is the sliding reel bands on the handle but I find them ok and suite older reels with larger feet better than the small ones on drennans latest rods. I only recently gave a new im8 super feeder to a good m8 of mine but it hurt a little to part with it. I sold a couple of mint original im9 float rods, again that was a mistake! That era of rods made by drennan was imo their pinnacle of rod making.
