A very enjoyable read, although i have to say I've never heard of either angler. Seems odd that they would choose two venues where conditions where hardly favourable and catching became more of gamble The final round was more like it...

I suppose a latter day version would be the Sails/Walker match.

Interesting thread and something a bit different, so thanks for that, Keith!

What a super site that is....thanks Keith.

I loved the Champion Roach fisher story and couldn't help thinking that the second leg sounded very much like an average day on the GUC around Tring for our resident Iron Man Simon aka Peter Crabtree.

.....is daniel121!! *wakes up*

isn't it strange how wet dreams change as we advance in years :eek:mg:

Seriously was a brilliant read and a thought provoking one too. I was put right a few times on another forum regarding roach pole, to me they came from the continent, the guys said "no dan London guys were using them for decades before this." Its a small world but not as small as it was when I was growing up :)

great article great website, thanks keith
