Yes it’s that time again!

I’m after a new fishing reel. Budget around £60. I would like something that’s reliable to fish stick/waggler on the river.

Recommendations please.

Thanks

Abu 507, 505 or a Pin both good for trotting. 507 better if it's windy. For fixed spool, Something like Middy CXR30 comes with 2 spools, Drennan 30fs, Greys 30 GFs. Owned all the mentioned above. If i wanted another fixed spool, i would go for another Middy reel.

If it's a closed faced reel your after i'd go with a old abu 501.
If it's a fixed spool then any small'ish reel willl be ok so long as you can reach the spool ok with your finger to feather and trap the line. There's loads of fixed spool reels on ebay well within your budget, new and second hand. Shimano reels are worth looking at.

Have a look at the Drennan series 7 float reel. Compact and sturdy with 3 spare spools all shallow.
