What size fish warrants landing net use?

Ordinarily I would say anything more than @8oz should be netted really. Mind you we have all done it & I've swung some Bream in whilst Carp fishing that had the Carp rods alarmingly creaking.

...late in the day, you cant shake it off so you have to choose between a stunk out net & car for the journey home or a Bream doing a Tarzan impression.

I think in my case as it's early days and I'm not used to judging what exactly I'm bringing in, I tend to use the net more often than not.

Experience will start to tell you when your net is needed but I would say that doing as you are by erring on the safe side is the right thing to do.
