On this lake there is a very big head of roach,small to big,in fact I believe if it wasn't for the catfish,like and perch the big fish wouldn't be there,it would be full of stunted roach and I wouldn't fish for roach there...
whitty...what you are seeing is the same I got practicing for fishing matches on a gravel pit in the spring. the pike would sit under the platforms, watch you swing a fish in and soon as you put it back it would fly out from under the platform.
also what Sam says about pike sitting right on the bottom in the middle of your swim when trotting on rivers is a nightmare. as soon as you strike they take the fish. Its like there playing a game of hide and seek with the roach
