Caught a small roach today from the GUC which had strange eyes. I’ve never seen this before apart from on some aquarium fish.

Anyone else seen this condition before?

Looks like a bacterial infection.

Yep I’ve caught them like that before, no idea what it is. Either a genetics mutation like you see in some goldfish varieties or as suggested an infection of some sort

Dropsy. In advanced cases, the eyes may bulge out due to the large amount of fluid behind them. Some other symptoms may include redness of the fins and 'pineconed' scales. A dropsied fish might not always have pineconed scales. Sometimes it just swells up, usually with bulging eyes.
