I fish the River Kennet. I used to fish it a lot but now, although the 3 mile plus private stretch that I fish does give up the occasional big fish it is more likely to be a pike than a barbel or chub.
The subject that I want discussed is crayfish. 'Signal' Crayfish. These are a pest beyond belief. My last trip resulted in fourteen captures of these wonderful creatures who have been released into our rivers and canal systems by our stupidity!!!
It is about time that a lobbying force was created, not just for anglers, but for all of the people who recognise the dangers of 'pet release' and its savage affect on our own wildlife.
I rest my case but I'm not volunteering. I work a fourteen hour day and I'm scheduled for a heart-attack!
