I've got the river and stream 1.2oz tc rod for my chubbing.
It also has an avon top for perch, roach and touch legering. It looks and feels absolutely superb.
I also know someone who's using the lure rods and reckons they are spot on as well.
I agree Birds Nest. If I wasn't moving shortly I would probably go for the top of the range Free Spirit as it is one fantastic bit of kit but the TF 1 3/4 looks as if it is well up to the job.
Agree with Ron that Harrison's are better, I have a few, but I do fancy playing with a quivertip rod this year and Harrison have not yet entered that market. OK they are close with the new Steve Stayner rod in that one of the tops has a very soft top section that is like a quivertip but I am a clumsy so and so and would rather buy a new tip than a new top section.
I'm going to go for the push in type as I am rather good at breaking quivertips.
Although I can get an Interceptor quivertop for ?60 the savings lost as soon as I break it and make nomistake although I will take all the care I can break it I will !
I have just bought the new Drennan Specialist Power Barbel rod that has 2 Avon tips (1.75 & 2lb TC) they are also fitted as standard with two isotopes on each. My theory was how often have I actually used my quivertip for barbel fishing?? Answer -Zero.Well worth a look.
I've got a Ron Thompson barbel rod, 2lb tc very good thru action rod. My only complaint with it is that the handle is a bit too long for a short armed fella like me.
I use it on the Severn when its too big for my quiver rod, and also floater fishing for carp, where it really comes into a world of its own.
