Following a successful first year, the
Orvis Fly Fishing Fair at Blenheim Palace will return on Sunday 10th April 2011.

Once again Orvis and Blenheim Palace are offering a day for all the family to enjoy the beautiful sport of Fly Fishing. Situated at the Trout Fishery on Bladon Lake, in the centre of the magnificent Palace grounds, the Orvis Pro-Guide team, lead by Paul Procter, will display casting techniques and demonstrations for all abilities.

Demonstrations are to include ‘How to Cast; The Techniques,’ ‘Double Hauling,’ ‘The Spey Cast’ and much more! With detailed and interesting commentary for each of the demonstrations throughout the day, beginners can witness the professionals cast elegantly across the picturesque lake, before attempting the challenge of fly fishing for free with the guidance of Orvis Fishing Specialists, Instructors and Pro-Guide Team.

Orvis rods and equipment will be provided free of charge for casting tuition and ‘have a go’ sessions.

Orvis will also host a wide selection of stock with a sale of up to 50% on many clothing and fishing items.

The event will also provide the perfect occasion to launch the new Orvis Access and Touch Rods. With archery, gun dog displays, food and drink stands and access to Palace grounds all included; a perfect family day out is created.

The Orvis and Blenheim Casting Challenge will entice the seasoned fisherman to enter the accuracy casting competition with the opportunity to win a Helios Rod- worth over £500!

Orvis and Blenheim Palace opened the Trout Fishery in April 2009 on the 21 acre lake, surrounded by the perfectly maintained rolling countryside of the park. With full tailed Rainbow Trout weighing up to 8lbs alongside a collection of wild Brown Trout, the fishery is split in to four beats and is open for fishing all year round.

Fly Fishing combines the thrill of a sport with peaceful tranquillity to enjoy the countryside. To ensure the sport is open to all those who wish to become involved, Orvis sponsored the ‘Wheelyboat’, allowing disabled fishermen access to fish the vast lake.

Blenheim Palace is situated 8 miles from the historic city of Oxford in the traditional Cotswold town of Woodstock.

Ticket prices are; £6 adult, £5 concession and £4 for children. (Prices include access to the Fly Fishing Fair, the Park and the Pleasure Gardens.
Separate admission will apply for the Palace and Formal Gardens.)
