I hadn't used my ABU506M for about 15 years, until recently, but 15 years of heavy use before that. Anyway, when i first started using it again I was getting bad tangles as line coiled around under the bell..regularly. I noticed that the chenille round the spool edge had gone - rusted core and falling to bits. So I replaced it with some fly-tying chenille that i found researching on the net....and it has totally cured the problem. Superb reel for trotting etc. Mines got the backwind modification, but thinking of getting an unaltered model with drag for hands off ledgering.
