Hi
I'm currently on the hunt for either a 13ft Shimamo Catana cx or 13ft greys prodigy specialist float rod although i would consuder a 12ft prodigy. I can collect in the bury st Edmunds/Cambridge area or I'd require postage. If anyone can help then please drop me a pm

Cheers

Which version of the Greys do you mean?
Prodigy TX Specialist Float,
Prodigy VX Specialist Float,
or perhaps even the original Prodigy Power Float?

I have one of the latter (but doubt it's what you want) and two of the Catana CX. (I won't part with the Catanas.)

It is the TX I was looking for!
I take it from your reply that you like the catana?

Yes, I like the Catana. After trying a few specialist/specimen float rods that weren't quite up to the task I had for them, I was searching for a beefed up float rod that still retained a proper float rod action. I had previously used Avon and light barbel rods but don't like the through action such rods have when float fishing. The Catana resembles such a rod quite a lot, except for the action.

I took a blind punt on the Catana because it was cheap. I liked it enough to pay a bit more for a second one. If you want a match rod with a bit of extra grunt while retaining real finesse, they might not be for you. I wanted it for fishing for carp up to 20lb+ in open water. However, I've also used it trotting for barbel into double figures. They work for me.
