Hi, I'm thinking of joining a 2nd club to get a greater variety of waters to fish. Barnet and district has been recommended but if anyone has any other suggestions, no more than an hours drive around the M25 from Enfield area, I would be very grateful.

Thanks Simon, I've tried Tring which is a little too far and I'd get the GUC on the Barnet ticket. I suppose what I'm really looking for are recommendations. I've only returned to angling these last 3 years, so not vastly experienced.
My club, Hollow angling, has a couple of lovely lakes but with limited species in them. They are part of the Fishers Green and Turnford consortiums, which are quite tough going, especially the Lea at FG.
Learning on easier rivers and lakes with maybe one or two specimen waters thrown in would be great. Love canals too.
Am I asking for too much?

TBH Mark there aren't any easy rivers in the area you are looking at.
They're all hard work unless you like catching minnows.
Most canal venues are day ticket or free so not worth joining a club.
I've been a member of URACS for 15 years and their Colne sections are still a challenge.
It's really a case of choosing a club and sticking with it for a few seasons and learning their venues the hard way.

Thanks again Simon. Watford looks interesting but expensive, URACS has a lot of different lakes though I can't find a membership cost on their website. Barnet are having an open day on the 31st, so I can learn more about them then. I'm not in a rush, so any more recommendations gratefully received.
Mark.

Hi Nobby, seems like a decent club.
There main water, Shepherds Way, is like a very pretty but secure commercial.
Lots of fish, mainly carp to 25 and one 30 I was told. Also roach to 2.5 (I joined), perch to 4.5, decent crucians and some smallish tench.
London Colney apparently a lot harder but some big carp and bream.
Also several rivers (see website), Tring and Luton's sections of the GUC.

Sorry guys only just seen this thread.

You could try Ware AC, plenty of waters, lakes and rivers.

If anyone wants to contact me via FM, i can find out regarding membership.
