I have the original GRX reels and have had a good look at the GRXi in the shop I help out in.
The GRXi reel does look nicer and feels slightly lighter. Also, it comes in a nice case that takes the reel and the spare spools. It's quieter than the GRX too, although does still make noise on both line release and line retrieval.
For the money though, they are still very good value but you might consider as well the Orvis Rocky Mountain, the Scierra model that also has similar spools and a few others too.
You can also get some fairly good deals on them too with lines included, if that's what you're after.
