Last time I went on the Ribble I left my net behind. So, I need another! I've been scouring various web sites, there seems to be very little for sale. I don't want a 42 inch triangular net, that's overkill, they are too heavy and unweildy.

Ideally, I'm looking for a circular net, or a triangular one with approx 30 inch arms. It should be reasonably lightweight, I'm hoping to spend 30 or less on the net and handle.

Can anyone recomend anything?

Ric ,I brought a circular net last year : net 28 inch ,handle 6 ft ,strong alloy ,the handle is telescopic but no brand name ,brought it at a local tackle shop .
Can have a look if you like .
Cant remember the price but less than ?30 I think .
I use it for pike ,so should be alright for barbel .

?30 or less? Get real Ric.

Well, perhaps just a little more, but a Fox 30" Predator landing net and one of the new Daiwa Emblem handles. That's what I use, much of the time.

Couldn't agree with you more Ric,

The standard tri-angular net is an anachronism that should have been consigned to the scrap heap many years ago.

What we need for most of our fishing is a round or slightly pear shaped net with a fairly deep mesh where a barbel can recover. It must also be light and collapsable.

I think Leslies of Luton might have such a net, although it might cost a bit more than ?30.00.

And that's without the handle.

I have the Fox Predator net and am very happy with it. A 30" Spoon net with a nice free flow mesh at ?19.99.

The leslies of Luton one is the Wanderer Landing Net its has a strong aluminium frame and it's free flow mesh net and is very light. The size is 32" x 25" Pear Shape at ?49.99.

I've used a Korum 24" round net for barbel up to 11 lb and its worked fine.

42 inch triangular deep mesh landing net!

My net is like my penis large and cumbersome but it gets the job done!

:O)

Nice one Lee.

I want mine to be like my own member i.e. just the right size, efficient and never misses the fish. I won't mention floods :)

Thanks for the input so far. I've seen the Fox Predator online it looks just the job.

Woody that handle sounds just the job, but tough to find though!

I agree Fox Predator, mine is two seasons old and is just the right size, coupled up with a heavy duty Conoflex extending handle. The head slots nicely into a folded up Fox adjustalevel chair.Last year I put one of those pro logic connectors on the handle , this makes moving swims a bit quicker , also good for using the landing net head as a weigh sling when ounces are not the be all and end all.

Nearly forgot, it might be an idea to unscrew the screws that hold the arms into the spreader block take out the arms , araldite and return the screws.Mine has been fine before and after doing this but on pan type nets this is a weak spot and just to sure it won't hurt.

Swordsy,

Does that mean its shot through with holes and smells of old eels?

I've just received my Wanderer landing net from Leslies.

I like it very much. It will hold the biggest barbel that swims, is light and has a nice deep mesh that will allow barbel to recover.

Top notch chaps.
