Bass cooked down here in Devon after I've caught it.

Most un-PC - a carp. It went belly-up in a scak on my mate's fishery, so we barbequed it. The poles have it for crimbo, but I'm sticking with turkey - it was a bit fatty and tasteless.
Pike's tasteless, grey mullet is like MFI furniture - looks nice, but when you get it home you find it's completely tasteless.
Eel's bloody good, perch is cracking, zeds are nice. Gudgeon's lovely - floured and fried is best. Minnow is edible done like whitebait.
The best fish in the UK is a quivering-fresh mackerel grilled. And they taste nice raw, too.
And I like a really big skate wing with black butter.

Dover sole, I used to eat loads of them when I lived in Malta, truly scrumptious.
Honest to goodness fresh cod steaks take some beating in my book as well.

Actually I forgot perch. I last ate one in SA funnily enough, caught in a trout water.
They are also very good. I used to eat at least a couple a month during the 50s and 60s. It was the norm amongst many anglers then.
I have eaten every common British freshwater fish in my life with the exception of barbel. I have eaten some of the barbel's cousins in Africa and they are not bad.
Nothing unPC about eating carp. That's what they are bred for. No shortage of them either. Tench are better in my opinion. I had a nice piece of tench last time I was in Warsaw.
What a lot of people will not appreciate is that during WW2, the guys too old to be conscripted and who fished, ate most of what they caught. And there was never any shortage of fish either.

you shouldnt eat fish its bad for you, especially if you get SALMON ella
