Roach Fishing Selby 3

I spoke to the bailiff at Selby Three Lakes, Gordon Fowler, this morning and apparently the lake is dead, devoid of carpers. It should stay that way through January and February so he is willing to do a group booking at ?10 per angler for a 24-hour ticket.
My suggestion is that I book 5 pegs at that price. The question remains as to which will be the most popular dates. I suggest we do a Friday and Saturday night, starting from Firday noon.
Good bags of roach are being caught during the day on sprayed maggot or caster. And legering should score after dark.
I think it'll be bloody cold whatever, so anyone planning on doing a night really wants to come well prepared.
What's the consensus?

Count me in. I might only want to do the one night first and see how it goes.

Can we light a bloody big fire if it's cold?

I'll bring some Armagnac Matt.

If Matt comes so will I.

Gordon is a nice guy.

It reminds me of Scott's expedition to the Antarctic. One of his men said:

"I am going out for a while and I might be some time."

I've forgotten who.

Ron,

That was Oates, and it was on his birthday too, March 17th.

"I am just going outside, and I may be some time"

Lawrence Edward Grace Oates - a very gallant gentleman.

A very gallant, exceedingly dead gentleman.
Seal Skins are a good product in this weather, backed up by all the other cold weather tricks.

And I think Scott nicknamed him "Titus"

Titus Oates was an English conspirator who instigated the Popish Plot in 1678.
His story (which was false)of a Jesuit plot to assassinate Charles II resulted in the execution of many innocent Catholics.

The roach fish-in is a possibility for me, though maybe only through the day up untill midnight, also depends on dates.

And I thought I was well read Peter!
I'm fine towards the back end of January. It's bound to be bloody cold whenever we go. I can't do weekend of January 14/15, but can do 21/22 or 28/29. Last weekend is probably best for me. Will probably be free to shoot any weekend in February.

Anyone else good for the last weekend in January?
I can also do most weekends in February I should think.
