I once fished an overstocked, dug out farm pond too and managed to catch on a bare hook, so does that make nothing a good bait?

I have heard prawns are a good carp bait.. the only problem with them is, if youre using defrosted ones, its almost impossible to fish them at range with a pva bag, cuz the dampness of the prawn just desolves the bag quicker than you can cast it.. it might be worth a go float fishing them perhaps.. or at range, if you can overcome the problem..

just put some dry groundbait in the bag with them. or let them dry out first!

I used them once but just kept catching eels or getting a single bleep and something stripped them off the hair.
