Thanks Stuart.
Note the river level I got from Rivercall seemed too high, the river too low for 0.43M, when I rang again it said 0.27M and falling, this seemed a more realistice reading.

Fished a swim that produced a Barbel for me a few weeks ago. Didn't expect to catch with the poor conditions, but couldn't resist trying anyway! The water vole which swam across my swim, and the wren that landed by my feet were worth the trip alone.

Fishery.........Wye, Hereford.
Time fished.....10.00 to 16.30.
Weather.........Gales and bad wind chill.
Water...........winter level.
Method........... started on float close in but wind made this to difficult, switched to taped up feeder down the side with feed also fed by hand little and often.
Results..........Handy bag of roach to 11/2lb along with other decent samples plus a nice perch(about 8 fish).....oh and a pike on the other rod later.
Brief description. River looked good but the wind made it practically impossible to float fish, it was blowing hard down river and into our bank, luckily there were fish close in.

Thanks Paul.
Its a free stretch, by a town centre and I've rather not name it for every angler in Oxford to descend and decimate the stocks, leave litter etc.
The stretch has long been fished by me and a number of other locals; they wouldn't thank me if I "invited" allcomers in...
Of course good anglers will always find hot stretches/swims themselves anyway, often on their doorstep...
