I'm thinking of going fishing at the river severn tomorow.I remember a few years ago, we used to use aniseed in ya groundbait for roach.I've recently brought a five litre tub of aniseed from a farmer supply shop.
1.Is it worth using it this time of the year?
2.How much should i put in my maggots?
3.What other spicies would be attracted to this flavour?

1.don't see why not but I'd favour turmuric for the roach on the severn.

2.can't remember how much I used to use now but must have been about 2ml a pint.

3. I've had some very good catches of tench when using aniseed...could have just been coincidence though.

hope this helps Steve.

Severn is rising at the moment and with the snow melt making the water very cold. you might been working very hard for them tomorrow.

I will add though that the aniseed I used to buy was in a small bottle from a tackle shop...could have been more concentrated the the animal feed stuff?
