Where did this term for chub come from? I seem to be seeing it more and more recently, it's almost like it's a fashionable term to use for those in the know.
To me it looks like an anglicised spelling of the French name chevesne, which when spoken does sound similar to how chevin would be prounced in English. Chevesne is French name for chub.
