Today I managed to talk myself into a Abu Enticer 10’ match as a spinning rod. I don’t need to throw a lure too far so that helps. Its got an awful lot of eyes/rings so a thin line is called for so many fish/lures will be lost. It fits sideways into a Peugeot107 boot and the wife might never discover it.
This happy event only came about as I have been catching small perch on two very different rods : a Mach1 specialist [Shakespeare] and a Challenge pro Spin 212 [Mitchell]. The latter cost £6 and got me back into fishing but how ‘dead’ it feels playing a fish. The former, totally unsuitable, feels like there is something alive on the end of the line.
This is no reflection on the different manufacturers. Just spend £20 -£30 on yer budget rod otherwise you might wonder what we is all getting excited about.
