I saw a monk with his hood covering his head come silently towards me one misty morning, I was fishing a pond in the grounds of a monastery though. For an instant it did scare the living daylights out of me. It did feel a bit spooky fishing there and it was very atmospheric.

The Monk, who posts on here from time to time, used to wear a monk's habit and scare the pants of of his fellow carp anglers when he took a midnight stroll.

We get a lot of them monks around here as well, mind you having a Monastery just up the road helps.

Personaly I choose to live an evidence based life, so that covers all things like ghosts, spirits, religion, god, etc if there is no evidence I don't believe in it.

I am always more than happy to change my mind if and when evidence becomes available though.
