Haha, i genuinely did change from the float to a tiny bomb (couldn't be bothered with the number 8 shot fiddlance necessary to retackle after my Drennan Antenna went up a tree)

Mike, I occasionally like a whip u to 4m but you won't catch me with a take apart pole. Playing a fish on a rod and line looks cool, stashing sections of pole behind you while some bright pink elastic sproings out to play the fish for you, not so much

I bought a 4m whip about 2 years ago now, swapped the odd end bit for a stonfo end bit , made up some floats and hook lengths and have never used it . I might sling it in a suitcase next time i take one to France and try it off the rocks near the port.

The milder conditions today didn’t take long to get my enthusiasm up for another go on the supermarket wharf.
The wind was a lot stronger and there were showers too.
Started a bit later today at 1pm but didn’t get a bite until 2.30 which was a dace....

Then the roach switched on and they were quality fish. Single red maggot on a 20 B520 laying on about an inch doing the business.

First time out in a long while, and the river was looking wintery, but actually a nice day and not too cold.

This is one of my favourite swims, so I sat for a while and fed a few maggots before getting the hook in.
Quite a few runs through before the float buried and the culprit put up a good scrap before being netted.

That proved to be it for landed fish...I did lose another one which caught me by surprise as it was just on there when i reeled in at the end of the trot and it shot under the willows on the left so that was that!

As the wind had died down I tried in vain to get a bite from the bream in the town pit. Gave it 3 hours on method and gb with double dead maggots on a 18. At one point I heard movements from inside my holdall?

Poor thing looked like it was on its last legs, it couldn’t fly. It liked maggots though..
Neil1970 came along for a chat with his newly acquired dog too...

At 2pm I moved onto the river Colne with a maggot feeder to a 20 wide gape and single maggot.
First bite a small perch, next bite a bigger perch.

Next bite the same big perch, glutton for punishment...

Your enthusiasm to fish on a regular and constant basis regardless of weather is something unparalleled and to be admired Simon, what do you do on a day off?

    I wouldn't mind working 1 day in 365.

Zero days in 365 is far more preferable.
