I found the untreated points blunted very quickly then i remembered how we used to fire harden the points on our arrows when I was a kid.

Five minutes is enough, just until they start to char, it also enhances the aroma.

If you don't have access to a sharpener, you can always use a Cat's @rsehole or your own even, if you fancy a slightly blunt point:cool:

Fortunately I still have a small supply of Robin Starch

Adding a little to the compost in my wormery entails that my worms are as stiff as a board at all times. Then it is a simple job to use a Ray Mears endorsed worm whittling tool to create a razor sharp edge to my worms.

Hey Clive,
No wonder you can't catch perch - you're scaring them using mini-machetes!;):D

the label on that starch is hilarious , first it looks like the robin is farting , second it advises not to be used in food , lastly you can imagine some poor bloke wearing an over starched shirt as stiff as a suit of armour.

Maybe it is a good alternative to Viagra?

The warning is for those who might be tempted to ingest some to keep a stiff upper lip. But don't be surprised if PJ didn't still use Robin starch to keep his shirts looking spick and span.

You mentioned Ray Mears, he's an old school chum of mine , I took him on his first trip to the Amazon in 68. I was fishing the uncharted jungle bits , taught Ray all he knows

Yes, Ray is an old chum of mine too. He often mentions how you set him up in his outdoor survival business. He wouldn't be able to whittle a spoon out of green wood using nothing but an axe and spoon knife without your tuition. Before that he just used to buy his spoons.
