Still waiting for it, though :( Have emailed them, just now. Frankly, I'd forgotten I'd ordered it. I bet the "Pound Shop" stuff gets here first!

I'd chase them if I were you, something has gone awry. Mine was delivered two days after I ordered it.

They are waiting for it to be delivered to them from the pound shop first. Then they will deliver it to you ;):eek:mg:

Got in touch today. It was sent out on the 26th, so must be "lost" in transit. However, TFT were rather good about it and offered me a Navitas Agent waterproof/breathable jacket in khaki. It doesn't look as well padded, but I own plenty of warm technical fleeces, so that ain't an issue. The site blurb mentions a free matching beanie priced at a tenner so I'm pretty pleased, really. Bright blue isn't my colour, anyhow. :D

Of course, there's the outside chance of the lost item turning up at some point, which would be the icing on the cake. :w

The chap who dealt with my query was efficient, helpful and pleasant. I'd be happy to do business with them again.

Carp rod bargains from Total fishing Tackle. Mainly Shimano, but some Sonik, Greys and Wychwood rods including an almost half-price 6ft Extricator. A good firm to deal with.

Lets see if we can get an ongoing thread in a similar vein to the how did you get on thread.

I'll kick off with this. No idea if they are any good, but three for the price of one has to be a bargain in anyone's book.

just noticed this sam, those shakespere Firebird 11 rod and reel combos are great for spinning and stalking mate, excellent light rod.

Mad Nash, Shimano and Sonik reel bargains - less than half price in some cases.

A couple of examples:

Quiver plus sleeves by Aqua down to £96 from £130. Looks like a good piece of kit, without the restrictive, tiny rod butt pockets on other quivers (like my bloody Korums!)

Young's Ray Walton Barbel Rod, 1.6lb (Mk 2) at less than half of usual RRP. £36.99 at Fishing Hut online.

Designed for rolling meat, with a softish action, although the pair I have on order will be used mainly for short/medium range stillwater work. They seem to be well-regarded, according to various forum posts. The Mk1 had a poor reel seat that - ironically - wouldn't accept Young's own reels :eek:mg: This has been rectified in the Mk2 version, but there's still some old stock out there, so be careful when buying from this range.

I've received these and first impressions are very good. Decent finish, nice balance and smooth action with power in reserve (checked by playing-in the kitchen table!) The uplocking reel seat's secure; cork is of a good quality; handle's nice and short so it isn't forever catching on the herbage. Reasonably light, too. Great value at a silly price. :)

Has anyone ever taken a punt on these cheap imported reels on Ebay?

I've yet to see one that has a spare spool but at the price it's worth buying a couple of reels, divesting one of its spool and keeping the reel body for spares/replacement. I've been on trade sites and they offer a branding service on bulk orders for reels like these, should anyone want to pass them off as their own make. Makes me wonder how many of these end up with a more familiar company name on the side. One day I'll have a punt. I mean, the second link's a 1000 size reel, 11 bearings, for less than eight quid.

These boxes look interesting if you're travelling light. At only 4" wide they may fit in the pockets of your fishing jacket. Various types available.

NGT tackle have a direct sales site. Some of it's cheap and cheerful, but there are some really good value and well-made products for the money; the carbon 4-piece travel rods are a good example. Carp,11ft, 2.75lb, packing down to just 88cm reduced to £22. Bargain holiday rod(s)? There's a 4-piece 20-50g spinning rod, too.

I'll vouch for the stainless metalware, which can't be beaten at the price (looks expensive!) Big range of luggage, sensibly priced. Yada, yada, yada,.... Have a look when you have a few minutes to spare:

NGT Direct Home

Boyes stores in your high street stock a range of NGT equipment, including the metalware and bulk spools of line (pretty decent, too!) for a fiver.

Plus one and a big "Thank You" to Keith M for this:

One Pound Fishing Tackle | End of Line Clearance Deals

The bait droppers, in particular, were exceptional value, and the box is worth the p&p.

I'll second that. The Le Pecheur beanie hat is a beauty; snug and warm for winter use. Reel cases are unpadded, but perfectly OK; the Scierra on-rod reel protectors are for the tiniest of fly reels, although they could be useful as protective cases for other items. Nothing wrong with the Middy polo shirts, either. The delivery box, as Alan mentions, is worth a few bob on its own.
Lovely stuff!

My local tackle shop are selling the Drennan series 7 Avon quivers at the moment for £64 for the 11ft and £69 for the 12ft models. Treated my self to the 1.25 test curve the other day for my Perch fishing and it's great rod for £64.

This may only be of interest to me, but I'll post it anyway. I've owned the previous model Samsung Galaxy S4 Zoom (S4 based) phone/camera mash up for about a year now. It's a bit strange and a bit lumpy, but it works rather well and takes good photos. The vast bulk of the photos I post have been taken with it. I got it cheap because they were mostly ignored by the big phone retailers and most people don't even know they exist. The much slimmed down and less lumpy S5 version, the Galaxy K Zoom has been exactly the same. It's also beginning to be sold off cheap. I can well understand why many would shy away from them, but I suspect that there might be the odd angler out there that might find them as useful as I have. No need to take a separate proper camera for decent pics or have to accept inferior pics from a normal phone.

Samsung Galaxy K Zoom SM-C115 4.8" 8GB Unlocked Android 4G Smartphone Black | eBay

Just compare and contrast how much a standard Galaxy S5 would cost to buy. Second hand S5 Minis tend to cost around £200.
