It's that time again,the two week family holiday starts a week Friday,with me sneaking off fishing every evening on the lower Stour,can't wait,blank or not...

Well,back today,my evenings fishing were as expected difficult,with the ribbon weed plague worse than ever,4 barbel graced my net,best 12lbs 6ozs,7 chub to around 4 and a half and a roach 1lb 9ozs,roll on Octobers visit.

,difficult conditions to present a bait was my inference,the ribbon weed has made at least half of the swims I like to fish unfishable,with little clean gravel to fish,of the others some of those are 'awkward' because of the ribbon weed,a slightly cleaner river(a small clean area would be nice)would give more chance for success.As we all know barbel love weed cover,so many fish are in totally unfishable positions,even using short hooklinks,heavy leads,hooking pva bags etc due to the weed wrapping around your mainline and pulling your hookbait into knots of weed.

Hi Whitty, was that the stretch in front of the Meadowbank caravan site? I fish it frequently and although hard at times it can chuck up some excellent bags. I don't see that many large chub however which is surprising as it looks like classic chub territory. Next time you're down and see someone fishing with a small Westie as a companion stop for a chat.

October half term i'm down for a week Rog,look out for a fat bloke with grey hair,I don't fish much on the park area,in spite of knowing what can come out,i'd rather be below it,just for slightly less kids playing(my 17 year old autistic son has me going through the day as it is),so more peace and quiet,if I shut my hearing aid off,lol.

Mike,I've had an awful few weeks at work,which ended with me throwing quite a few f##ks into supervision and management,who promise jobs out without asking the only person who knows....me,not once has anyone asked how it was going,or if there were any problems with the job,then spring bo##ocks at me,glad to be away

Well that's it for another year,the fishing was poor,one bream and two eels and i've spent the week hobbling with a fooked knee...better than work mind...lol.
