I know we've all said it before but last time I really did mean it. That was until yesterday.
I was fishing caster shallow and had the idea my pole could be better, I spotted the owner of the lakes coming down the opposite bank and it dawned on me to have a chat regarding a lighter, easier for me to handle shorter pole.

I had a word with him and decided on a Black Magic 9.5mtr, fitted with puller kits and an extra top kit was a must. Depending on how stiff the pole is because I've had a whippy soft action pole before and they are not good.
This will definitely be my last purchase. Honest.;)

How are you at snap decisions, can you say no or cave like me.

Yet another snap decision buy, I do need it though.

I'm not too bad for impulsive decisions, they usually relate to my available finances at the time although I did go through a phase where I was snapping things up like an alligator that hadn't eaten for months.

I think I'm at saturation point in relation to what I need, but when did need ever have anything to do with desire? :)

I find myself buying bargain rods at boot sales simply because they're so cheap. Right now there are three or four that have yet to see the water, but they all get used eventually. Biggest problem is holding on to stuff I'll probably never use, just on the off chance that it'll fill a future niche.

I have never caught a dace and it's probably because I haven't got a dedicated dace rod! I cannot seem to find one!

Believe you me it doesn't take much to tempt me!;)

I've plenty of rods adequate to catching medium-sized chub. But all 3 piece, and a bit of a pain to transport made-up. One false move and your carefully set up rig is knitted. And I thought I'm much more likely to venture out for a couple of hours on a winter afternoon if I can set up a two-piece indoors! I checked on Ebay in the morning, and in the evening picked up a lovely Shimano Technium Specialist for a reasonable buy-it-now price. So, another rod for the collection, definitely an impulse buy, but one that will get me out on some long-threatened 2-4pm mid-winter trips.

I'm sat here watching the test match thinking I should be up at the shop checking if the Browning pole is exactly what I want. Either way I will be buying early next week. Once I decide on the right piece of kit.

So not so much as a snap decision.

You should Rayner ! Get over there and buy it, you can watch the cricket anytime;)

I resisted the urge Mike.
Tomorrow is a definite, I will nip over whilst they have lunch.
just because it's a bank holiday. I never fish bank holidays or weekends.

Mike, I can only watch cricket when it's on the box, long gone are trips to Headingley or the now defunct Bramall Lane when it comes to cricket.
