Well, from experience on Throop, when they do start to compete in numbers the bites can be very savage and very quick. Perhaps the big chub of past years are not there in the numbers nowadays but the method accounted for many, many 6lbers/7lbers and in the middle of winter with the extra water and pace.

I much prefer to trot for those chub and have had more than my fair share of such fish but haven't used the feeder for several years. However, a mate of mine used it very effectively a couple of weeks ago on Throop and had a lot of success with chub to over 6.

That's one thing need to teach myself is trotting . But need to try when there is more flow
