How do you store your rods and reels? My match gear is all separate in cases and tubes as most people do but for specialist gear (I.e. Barbel and carp) do you leave your reels on your rods all the time?

I'm only asking as I recently had a reel seat lock up on a carp rod that had never been used and I'm not sure whether to put this down to it being a cheap rod and reel seat or if it's due to a reel being stored on it for a long time and seizing?

personally I think it is bad form and lazy leaving reels attached and can easily get broken , and yes if the seat has not been used for a long time things can jam up

Time should make no difference.

You may have over-tightened the reel fitting and the 'Hood' has been distorted and jammed on the reel's foot

Binka will be along soon to make you drool! I store my rods in bags and hard cases/ tubes and reels in those nice padded green NGT cases! The rods are laid horizontally on a Heath Robinson shelf in the garage when not in the car!

I must admit my car is a veritable tackle shop on wheels and if anybody asked me to go fishing with them I would always have a complete spare set up or two!

I often go to a venue with a specific method in mind only to change when I get there so a choice of gear is vital!

All my lure rods are setup ready for use on racks in the shed. My pike rods I finally broke down after my last pike session of the season but are stored in bags with the reels attached.
My bream and tench rods have now been setup and are ready to go. I know the waters I will be fishing and the methods so I can set them up before I go. All I need to do is clip on a feeder or attach a float.

I must get some notices for all my rods to say " please bream share"!::wh

Whatever rod I take I usually catch bream! I definitely don't want a dedicated rod!!!!:)

I actually moved away from this a year or so ago in favour of something a little more pleasing on the eye but it's not working for me and I will be reverting back shortly.

The trouble is there's much more of it now... :wh

Its the baitdroppers.

They did it for me. Hanging pendulum style in ascending size order (..of course..). I am sorry but that simply takes tackle organization to a new level.

Mate, thats the angling equilvalent of the single blokes walk in beer fridge.

I doff my cap to you ! :)

How much lauguage is there !

I actually thought I was quite light on luggage.

The bags in the last picture are fully stocked, mainly with pike gear (split down into lure and deadbaiting) along with a cooking bag with all the cookware in it.

There are a few others but I will have to check what's in 'em before I can comment

I tend to go as light as i can these days . Unless if there is a bit of a walk and i will take the barrow. Or if doing a gravel pit session and not close to car park . End up taking spod , marker rod, spod mix etc so more rods and bait .

Normally i got a modern satchel , the trout fishing type . A drennan specialist 2 rod sleeve with 2 rods in it with sticks etc,
Chair and bait goes in a large canvas bucket / bait bag . So genrally can be all carried easy enough

Steve, is that a pellet banding tool hung near the baitdroppers ?

Love this organisation! I’m so inspired (or sad or obsessive) I’ve taken a screen shot so I have a template for my own new tackle room. Unfortunately the tackle room is well down the list, we have 7 bedrooms and 4 bathrooms to fix first and with the River Dordogne at the bottom of the garden there is always a call on my time, but thanks for the inspiration.
PS we hope to have a self catering apartment open by May and Bed and Breakfast available later in the summer.

Yes it is Mark, although it's a spare as I carry one as standard in my general bit bag.

I tried to set everything out in a logical order and bait buckets and boxes/baiting tools were all on or hanging from that shelf including syringes, catapults, droppers and the bread and meat punches which are all hanging (in size order!) to the left of it.

I really wish I'd never organised it differently now but I'm planning a return to that layout only this time it will be bigger, better and even more OCD than ever before

I need a bigger wall...

Cheers Ian.

Yes it was before the big clear out that I had last year but on balance and with what I've bought since there is now more than before :eek:mg: ;)

Every time I see Steve's tackle in perfect order I must admit I get the horn.
I only wish I had the same inclination, sadly I'm just to far past the bone idle line. It doesn't worry me, in fact I enjoy the fact that being tidy as long since left me.
My rods that I use are made up, all in hard case rod bags, Just the way they were put away last year. They are going nowhere so why worry. Next time I use them they will go as they are, the next time they are checked is when I take them from the bags.

You do know that that large syringe will make a good pellet pump, put a few pellets in it, draw some water up into it,
press end of syringe onto palm of hand to make vacuum, pump syringe a few times, expel water, and hey presto softened pellets, A Preston Innovations pellet pump works on the same principal but is more expensive than a sryinge
