Took swmbo into Canterbury today for some retail therapy. This would normally see me hurrying to the river rod in hand but this time of year doesn't allow such things so an ivestigative stroll along the banks with Polaroids on to see what the coming months have in store.
First time I've seen the river in a few weeks when it was swollen and high in colour, now back to its more regular state and although still pushing through it must be 90% clear. The heavy rains of recent months have certainly done a good job of flushing through debris and weed, as for the fish? I've never seen so many chub!
Perhaps the lousy conditions of this Winter just past will give us some glorious Summer fishing this year. The 16th is on a Saturday this year, will have to set the alarm for silly o clock.
The river looks great even through the centre of the city.
