More likely to be the rod that goes for a burton. Its a Plus so I should be ok swinging 2lb fish to hand !

Only 2lbers !

You'll think i'm talkin shyte here but there is at least one member on here knows i'm not.
I have lifted 2lb weights up off the deck with my acolyte plus rod so unless you get a wahle on I don't think you'll have any prob's.

I'm afraid I do having not seen it for myself. I also have absolutely no intention of trying it.

I can't see any point in having rods if your frightened to put a bend in them?
Same as your specialist avon, you question it's capabilities without trying it out. I've caught loads of barbel wiih mine, including some nice ones and they've been bent into serious curves....which is what they're meant to do. Binka has caught loads with his ultralight rods and we've both posted pictures of the rods with the fish and you don't seem to believe that's true. Skippy, if they break, they break and they weren't worth having anyhow....that's my take on it.

I can assure you i'm not lying about lifting up a 2lb kitchen weith with my 13ft plus rod. I wanted to know the capabilites of the rod and a few others at the same time. I lifted 3lb's up with some of them.....I think you may have had a prolapse if you'd seen the bend in them lol.

24th August. Was it only 5 weeks ago that some folk were having rain and the rest of us were in drought.?
Today its chucking it down in Lincolnshire. My water butts have filled up.............just in time for when I don't need to do the watering much:eek:mg:

I had a 60 plus mile ride on the push bike and it decided to hammer down soild for the return 30 odd miles. My eyes are still wreckin' me from all the muck and gravel that was driven into them off the road!
It's been hammering down on and off all day today!
Weather has forecast a dry day tomorrow so i'm thinking of doing a 90 plus miler :eek:mg:

If I survive that and the rivers low enough to trott (which i'm doubtfull of) i'll go trotting Monday or Tuesday. If the rivers are too high then it'll have to be the leger rod....:shame:.

Had some heavy downpours here in Nottinghamshire today.

The Trent's finally back up too!

(Sighs contentedly in a deep, curdling manner before disappearing into the garage to prepare gear for an imminent session).

Interesting about the biking. I like to bike it but not those long runs nowadays. This summer I have almost cycled to the exclusion of my walking. I started to find my calves ached like bu$$ery when walking through lack of practise.
I now mix and match so to speak.

We had the promise of heavy rain for later today in south Bucks and it duly arrived around 4pm or so. It was heavy for a time before settling into steady stuff - you know the rain I mean - it soaks you over time!
As far as I know it is still coming down........

Actually, knowing the rain was almost a definite(!) today I was quite pleased to pick 2,5kg of blackberries and a kg of apples (with the wife) AND mow the grass this morning as neither would be possible tomorrow. I cannot say it was easy for me to do either and I'm a bit sore now, but we had some fun when picking!!

Saturday will be an easy day with lots of good coffee and the newspaper, followed by blackberry and apple pie later in the day to go with the football on tele... Can't be bad!!

Keep it up John, you'll be amazed how far you can travel in a short time, It's quite addictive!
It will work wonders for your health, heart rate will drop along with blood pressure. The good thing about cycling is the older generations can do it as it's easy on the joints etc.

I used to do two hundred miles every week with a bike and the bike was nothing special either... Sit up and beg handlebars, no gears just a single fixed sprocket and a heavy iron frame but my health never improved.

It took me months to realise that you had to take it off the roof rack ;)
