I've been using a 10ft Shimano Forcemaster Commercial float rod over the spring and summer and would recommend it. I've caught Carp of 7lb on it and it handled them with ease. The price was reasonable as well £35.00.

I’ve been using one of these in the confined swims where I fish, impressed with it, it’s ok for silvers and I’ve had carp to over twelve pounds on it, a good little rod

Not sure the tangles will go away with a rod a foot or so shorter, have you considered a whip?

And a versatile rod it is too. Chucks a lure out a fair distance in search of elusive Bass.

Nice one. I've got the 9' carp feeder version which is very good too. As well as feeder I also use it for float fishing on small rivers and commercials as it's light and easy to handle.

I use the same as John 59. The 10ft Shimano Forcemaster AX Commercial float rod. I mainly use it for tight swims with a lot of overhead cover. Used it for trotting, float and waggle.
