not much to add to what has already been said, but for what it's worth I soak them overnight then bring to a simmer (not boiling!) for about 20 minutes-make sure to check them frequently as the turn into useless mush very quickly. I also add a tablespoon of Bi-carb to darken them-not sure if this makes any difference either way but it still works (maybe because they look closer to elderberries?) I generally find it can take some time to work it's magic-certainly not an "instant" bait like bread flake but worth persevering with as it does sort out the better roach like no other bait (caster being a distant second in my experience) Hook wise I use the drennan wide gape as it gives better clearance for the hook point.
