I don't know many hairdressers but those I do , do not have a convertible!:) They are not too clever in this weather and play havoc with whatever hair one has!

I like 2 piece 12 and 13ft rods that can be stored in rod sleeves, and it has nothing to do with how cheap or how more expensive it is to produce two, three or 4 sectioned rods; although it does have a lot to do with the types of fishing that I now enjoy now that I’m getting a little bit older and less interested in fiddling about as much as I used to on the bank.

I choose my cars with the room I need for my rods on purpose, and if the car is not roomy enough to carry my rods in 6ft or 6.5ft rod sleeves then I just don’t bother buying the car in the first place.

Whenever I’ve been Carp or Pike fishing from way back in the 70s it’s always been fairly rare to find 12 and 13ft three and four piece Carp rods anyway, and it probably still is; apart from the odd one or two.

When I used to do a lot of match fishing, and I needed to carry lots of different rods with me; I used to setup like everyone else just before a match with the rods that I would be using on the day in the swim that I had drawn, with all my rods and my poles stored in much shorter rod holdall’s, and I also used to carry everything but the kitchen sink

Nowerdays I’m a minimalist and opportunist and a Specialist angler who just likes to take advantage of weather and water conditions without having to waste a lot of my precious time setting up rods and end tackle and other things like that, especially when my time on the bank could often be quite short and my fish could probably be disappearing while I am fiddling about on the bank setting up my tackle.

It’s not that I am impatient at all, because I am not; and occasionally I don’t even bother casting my bait out at all, and I can spend hours just studying and stalking my fish; or when necessary just waiting for that special fish to eventually show interest in my bait. I just take my time doing things that I enjoy doing without all of the unnecessary hassle that can easily be avoided, that’s all.

I'm not quite sure why you've quoted me, Kieth, because you have reinforced pretty much what I've said said. Generally, coarse anglers seem to value two piece rods more highly than the small pack down size of a multi-section rod, even if you could get exactly the same actions without paying a premium. Game anglers are generally the opposite. They tend to value a small pack down size, provided the rod is capable enough.

I have some 13 foot two piece carp rods. I dont use them very often but the application tends to be when fishing on the river and either wanting to get line over margin obstacles or hold more line out of the water. I also use them for drifter float fishing for Predators as the extra length can help there.

They are more cumberson to transport but i still fit them in the fishing car ok. The transport issue is often made worse as people tend to want to stick ridiculous 50mm butt rings on them as well. Add to this that allot of the anglers i see with 13 footers also couple them with gigantic bucket spool reels and carry them in 4's and you have a substantial package to lug about in any ones book.

Four 13 footers with buckets reels on a mega euro rod pod can be mistaken for an electricity pylon on the skyline.:)

Sorry Sam I must have read your post in the wrong way, I sincerely apologise :sorry:

I’ve deleted the quote now that I’ve read it again properly:doh::)
