The Ronnie rig named after Ronnie Biggs who was involved in the Great Carp robbery! A mate of Martin Bowler apparently!

No. Anyone else want to have a stab at it ?

The rigs have been known about since the 90s and as for the inventor while not superman he could be his alter ego.

I'll guess at ...

Martin Clarke. He invented the blow back rig tied with a little ring rather than tubing, most probably a catchier name too.

Take a bow Stillwater Blue...you got the angler. :yo::)

The rigs in question were not blow backs as such although one of which was based on a similar principle...

Stillwater Blue I think came close enough so its time to spill the beans.

Here are the two rigs created by Martin Clarke. The Scorpion and Snake rigs. The idea is that only the hook, not the bait, is taken into the fishes mouth. I have my doubts on the practicality but they are certainly ingenious & Martin claimed to have caught a number of large fish using them.

Me neither. But Martin said he caught a number of big fish using them.

I get the feeling that although they may catch fish it may not be in the way envisaged. I can imagine a large Carp taking both bait and hook into its mouth all in one go rather than the rig working as the diagrams show.

Still it is different.

It all seems like a proper faff to me, if the Carp is going to take your bait, its going to take your bait.
