Hi guys I’ve posted a tutorial video of my best carp pop up rig. It has been very successful catching me several 20lb + carp on highly pressured waters.

Hope you enjoy and please like and subscribe to my channel “the occasional angler”

Isn't that a contradiction in terms? If I catch a carp, largely like the common cold and unavoidable, then so be it! I have no interest in some rig to deliberately do so.

Funny you should say that Michel, I have caught both a common cold and a common carp in the past few days.

Aah but you are amazing John.:) I bet you wish you hadn't caught either.

No, I actually targeted the carp, I may even do it again. I am booked in for therapy shortly.

I love Carp more please.

Note for OP ...might be better to have posted this in the Carp section. I use Pop ups allot.

I thought it was a good video, and it's interesting to see what goes into a rig like this. I get fed up too, that small to medium carp are in so many places these days, but that doesn't detract from the ingenuity shown by anglers targetting big carp in waters that are centred on that branch of the sport. I was looking at an article by Will Raison the other day, where he shows how to make a scaled-down version - a match angler's take, if you like - so this made how it works clearer.

Some of the modern bolt rigs used in the Carp/specialist scene are very ingenious ...allot of thought goes into some of them by some very clued up anglers. Its incredible how much can go on in that final inch of rig !

Bristle rigs in their various guises are not so well known but I think have allot of potential for all species. Also how about a rig where only the hook (not the bait) goes into the fishes mouth ! ....yes its been done.

Bonus points for anyone who can name the rig(s) and inventor....

No. Anyone else want to have a stab at it ?

The rigs have been known about since the 90s and as for the inventor while not superman he could be his alter ego.

No..not Dave.

The good thing about this one is I doubt Googles going to help anyone hence why I will be impressed if someone gets it. Its niche I grant you but was well enough publicized at the time not to be impossible. I know they are few and far between on FM but any big time Carpers out there should get it.

Interesting video seeing a different use for a short chod ready rig. I might try it. I do get similar results on the naked chod.
However a plea to the video maker.... Why is the repetitious and unnecessary background music so loud its not background music anymore but an interference to the speech ?
