Drennan carp maggot hooks

So far I have seen Guru Kaizen and Drennan super spades recommended and will try some of each!

Just remember that Super Spades are a barbed hook. A good hook, but not one for barbless only venues.

Mike, I suggest you start off tying bigger hooks like 12/ 14’s until you get the hang of it.

I have slung two hook tiers away, to much of a fanny on, gone back to whipping by hand .

I tried the hook tyer 3 times with abysmal results. I then clamped the spool of line to a table and 4th time lucky. With the line tight to a spool I was able to organise the routine. Now I need to try holding the spool between my knees as even I will not take a table and clamp with me.

Is the Drennan hook tyer the same as the matchmans hook tyer?

No it isnt,but if a person finds the watchman fiddly,they will probably think the Drennan is too...
