I foolishly bought one of those things too and......I found the sleeve too short ie it was a bit of a tight squeeze to get the rod in. I cannot be having with that.

Funny you should say that. I bought a Greys Prodigy single rod sleeve. Well padded, good zip, reinforced base, quality material...... and you practically had to stretch it over the ends of your rod. (Yes, I was trying to put a 12' 2 piece in a sleeve for a 12' 2 piece.) Rendered it useless. Why skimp on the length and ruin it for the sake of another 1"?

My wife is always bemoaning the lack of an extra inch!

I've had one of these rods (11ft .75tc) for a few months now but hardly used it until yesterday, I fished a well stocked commercial and set up a 20gm cage feeder packed with"crumb" and micro pellets and and banded 11mm pellets on a #14. Chucking that lot out towards an island (and sometimes hitting my intended mark).

I eventually had over a dozen carp from 5lb+ including 3 or 4 doubles to around 14lbs. I wouldn't necessarily recommend the rod for that type of work out but it reached some very alarming arcs as I locked hard into those carp thumping away under the rod tip!

Very impressed with loads of backbone and I now have no reservations about using it on the Stour and Avon.

A very well put together rod with a nice finish, an absolute bargain!

Exactly. Its incredibly annoying and the main reason why mine is now permanently confined to the shed.

Ridiculously basic design fault for a tackle manufacturer to not allow extra length for the spigot or overfit joint. For a rod to be exactly 12ft assembled then the butt section needs to be 6’3” to allow for the overlap at the joint. Given that rod manufacturers probably don’t like unequal sectioned rods then they must have a simple formula to allow the sections to be equal and still be 12ft assembled.

I used mine today for floater fishing and caught 11 carp to 8lb all on crust. I missed loads but I paid attention and enjoyed it. It barely merits a mention in the HDYGO thread and we all know what a carp looks like. I am learning slowly.

I did post after all and the bream were all caught on crust; amazing.

eBay, failing that I once had some quality bags made to size by a very nice lady that I found out about on the Traditional Fisherman’s Forum. Can’t remember her name and I’m not on that forum anymore so not really very helpful!

I’ve bought Drennan Single Rod Sleeves for both of mine as I like to keep them made up.
