Right,I know a few on FM have these rods,can I have your opinions please,I'm interested in each anglers opinions and the uses you put the rod to,also how quick is the postage? Cheers guys.

I used mine today as a feeder rod and caught crucians, common and skimmers. It's a lovely rod and an absolute bargain. I wouldn't float fish with it as I have much better rods for that but it's always in the car. The Tackle Box are excellent to deal with Alan and if your ordered today you might get it tomorrow . Be quick!

I put up a review on their website I was so impressed. What other rod can you get for £40?

I have trotted with it and it was fine. If I could come a cropper or if the weather is horrible than this rod is the one I turn to.

For the smaller species ( perch,crucians,big roach/rudd) or smaller sized examples of fish like (say) tench/bream etc they are oustanding. I've only used mine for feeder work so far but I can't see why they wouldnt be perfectly good as float rods.

I am using mine to chuck a 35g loaded feeder about 35-40 yards and its happy doing that albeit it wouldn't cope with anything much bigger or if you needed to go further. At closer ranges they are terrific...enough backbone to cope but soft enough to avoid hookpulls/breakages. I couldnt honestly recommend them for big tench but they are perfectly capable of dealing with schoolie tench...or bigger if there are no snags. I've had tench to nearly 7lb on mine and 2 x 20lb plus carp in the last 2 weeks.

The fittings are what you'd expect on a £40 rod but the finish overall is not at all bad.They are nice looking little rods with a lovely action....I am regularly asked what they are and where I got them from. I dont know anybody who's bought one say a bad word about them. They are simply outstanding rods for the money. I wish they did a deluxe version with better quality fittings....I'd have a pair of them too!

I am seriously considering having another pair as a hedge against them being discontinued at some point. Whether by accident or design they got these just right....there is nothing else quite like them on the market.

The bag is an utter disgrace though. Throw it away immediately.

Ordered it while fishing at 12:45 yesterday (fatal having a phone with 4G on you whilst fishing, IMO) and it arrived by FedEx this morning at 11:30. Now that’s what you call service! The bag is appalling so I’ve salvaged the Velcro strap from it and put the rest in the bin!

They are now £44.99 which is getting perilously close to the budget end of Daiwa and definitely in Shakespeare territory but it looks the business and will get an outing with floating crust next week.

I'm pretty sure that the Tacklebox rods come in rubbish sleeves quite deliberately. They know that the overwhelming majority of carp/specialist anglers (their primary market) don't actually use them, store them, discard them and lose them. They have no real purpose once the rod has been delivered to the customer. With that firmly in mind, they see little point in supplying a decent bag, even if it only added a few quid to the retail price.

If their market were largely made up of older anglers with a more general coarse angling background (as the majority on here), then the bags might be more of an issue for them. However, poor quality rod bags is something that is increasingly creeping into coarse and match rod sectors, along with the rise in fairly poor quality ready rod bags. Again, I'm sure that the manufacturers are well aware that many of these bags and cases never see the light of day once they get to a buyer. Besides, what better way is there to sell another quiver/sleeve/holdall/ready rod bag?

First thing tomorrow it’s off to my local tackle shop to buy a Drennan 1 Rod Sleeve for the Darent. Virtually all of my coarse rods are now in a made-up state and ready to go. My eyeshite is cr*p so not threading rods every time out is a boon!

I was in the Tacklebox saturday picking up a newtop section for one that I snapped mg: yes thats two rods in the last 2 months I have snapped. They replaced it free of charge but said can we have the old section please as they use the eyes to build new ones. What a service, considering a new Acolyte top section cost me £70.00.

Told the guys in there that this rod gets good reviews by everyone on this forum. They are now exporting these rods to America where suddenly the demand has gone through the roof as he put it.

Clearly the quality of the bag keeps the price down but as John Keane said its getting close to others now but a big name manufacturer or not would their rod feel as nice as this ? Its the value for money that makes this rod a winner & were £39.00 when I bought my first one.

I feel whole again now I havnt got a broken one in the shed

I had a go fishing this afternoon with my DV rod and had 3 carp around 8lb. It's a super rod. My exploits today don't merit a post on HDYGO but I needed fresh air and solitude. Those posters who ask for advice about an inexpensive rod and choose the cheapest rod from a " big name supplier" in preference to a DV will never know what they are missing.

Might be useful cut up into squares in case of an emergency I suppose..

What’s not to like about carrying a made up rod so you don’t have the squinter’s ordeal every time you go fishing? As for the Darent Valley bag, I’m keeping mine in case I get caught short for a Number 2 on the Bank!

J Cloth lol, Toilet paper lol, I just bought a cloth carp rod bag & I can get both DV's comfortably in that when they are not set up, I think my old bags must have have disintegrated by now ...

That's all they are fit for. As for the slippery slope of acceptance there is a world of difference between acceptance and tolerance. I have one pair of reels with double handles which I can just about tolerate. The ready rods sleeves never.
