Just to reiterate, trout do not go for this? Only for carp, pike etc?

Not really for pike, but good for carp, chub, barbel, etc and not for trout in a million years!

Trout will take pretty much anything,including luncheon meat, when they are at it. I've caught them on cheese paste, boilies and luncheon meat when fishing for barbel and chub. However, I wouldn't use luncheon meat if I were deliberately targeting trout.

Yep trout take anything edible including sweetcorn and luncheon meat, although not my first choice of bait for them.
