I came to the conclusion thst both pairs of Scissors I was using were c***. I think both pair came free with something else. I had tried to sharpen one pair but they remained blunt and just cutting a tag end was a chore.

I bought some Gardner rig blades( small scissors with a serated edge which are small, neat and which cut brilliantly. I cut the tag ends off a centimetre at a time just to try them out.

Usually mono Alan. I have line snips but scissors also help with opening a bag of Gb or pellets or other packaging. The Gardner ones were a fiver and work well.

The best I found for braid and mono are Owner brand.

Not the cheapest but good quality and they keep their edge. I have two pairs, one in my fly bag the other in a tackle box.

To cut braid nice and cleanly there's only one solution - The Berkley Hot Line Cutter. Even seals the ends of the line to prevent fraying.

For monofilament I use a pair of titanium scissors I got from Staples (now closed) years ago, but have worked really well.

I have not heard of Owners scissors so googled it. Got an Amazon site, which was out of stock and three lesbian porn sites. Even a man of the World like me can't figure that connection. Pete.

I just use an ordinary pair of household scissors. Stainless, dead cheap and work fine although the last pair I had weren't very stainless. Not great for braid of course. One thing I use all the time is a pair of flat nosed dental pliers for nipping shot.

Another Owner fan here but far too good for grubby fishing. They stay with my trite and sea trite gear....for coarse work I like the Gardner scissors though I have at least one pair in every box and often two...various brands but the Gardner are the best imo. There are snips in each bag too as backup.

I’ve a small pair of scissors on a zinger on my waistcoat, which I have with me every time I go fishing.
I’ve also got a pair of scissors on my Swiss army knife which are really good, best scissors I have.

A few years back, Greys did some excellent scissors at a very sensible price. I have several pairs spread throughout multiple tackle boxes and kits. Though the Greys had two tone green handles, they looked quite like these. I intend to buy some of them at some point. The pink handles might be nice and easy to spot when they get dropped.

I had an identical pair ( not pink thank God) which I used for fly tying . They were badged as Veniards. Good scissors but I moved on to Dr Slick for my fly tying and Mrs S nicked the Veniard ones for whatever women need scissors for.

I cant be doing with pink but at 2 nicker a pair thats exceptional value if they are the same quality scissors.

The small blade is great for cutting braid too, plus you have tweezers, screwdriver, thing for removing horses' shoes etc
