I happened to take me quiver rest to work with me as wanted to make a bank stick for it.
A colleague clocked it and said he's got a load of tackle in the back of his car that he's was taking to the tip after work! He said I could take what I wanted, so I just too the lot!
It's obviously not the latest stuff but a newbie like me is very thankful!

Nice haul, however did your colleague not think of donating the gear to a local charity? Almost seems criminal to dump it at a tip.

No he mustn't of done. He seemed to think I'd probably throw most of it my self, but everything seems to be in perfect order.

Well worth having. The tubes will always come in handy.:) if the reels feel ok then give them a clean and a lubrication then respool with sensor( a bulk spool is cheap) and give them a try

There's four rods in those tubes.
Theres an Abu match rod, a Shakespeare quiver tip rod, there's a carp rod that I can't remember the name of and a never used telescopic sprinner rod as well.

It all looks well kept and would be great for a charity, kids maybe, but certainly too good for the tip.

Twice I have passed a bloke throwing stuff on a skip and stopped and asked if I can have them, two brand new boat rods and a box of expensive unused 15 lures came my way.

It's nuts what some people throw.

Crazy,I'd much rather flog them on for next to nothing,I sold all my beach tackle many years ago,job lot,now this wasn't rubbish gear, three abu multipliers,a 6000,6500ca and 7000,three decent beachcasters, plus loads of end gear, the guy came up from South London with his dad and asked me why I was selling it,as I was obviously keen,I replied I'd rather someone got the pleasure of using it,rather than sit in the garage in the corner,I think I got £150 quid ,the leads and hooks were nearly worth that,I was happy though,it more than paid for a new Shimano reel...

Nice haul. Want a wanton waste that would have been.

When a neighbour died and the widow wanted to dispose of his gear I phoned the Angling Trust and a rep came and took it for one of those schemes that gets troubled kids into fishing to set them on a better track..hopefully.

That's a good idea and I'll probably do that with my old stuff as I upgrade. I'll have to post pics of the rods up as, to be honest I don't really have much idea about what's decent or not.

The tip's loss is your gain! Well done. you have a lot of gear there which you can use, appreciate and in due course when you gain experience, perhaps improve on.

Our local club (Warminster) collects old kit and sets up young kids with it. A great idea I reckon...

These are 3 of the rods I've got.
Also got a Shakespeare 11ft quiver and pole.
