Now that’s some barbel, well done to the captor, that’s exactly ten pounds bigger than my PB.

Seeing this fish set me to thinking, is there, or could there ever be a carbel?

Must have been some time verifying it, the picture is taken in mid summer by the look of it.

Great Ouse, Dorset Stour, Kennet?

Sussex??? I’m not up on barbel fishing but surprised the Southeast can now boast this record.

That pairs nicely with the joint perch record in the same county

I'm tempted to say a stretch of the river Trent, but I suppose it will all be revealed in the Christmas edition of the Angling times !

(Hopefully caught from a big river or the circus will come to town.

I see that the record for the Three-spined Stickleback was also broken. Can’t see them queuing up to catch that one again.

My guess is the Sussex Ouse but I am not sure which rivers run in that county partly. Anyone recognise the steeple in the background?

The Ouse, Arun and Adur all hold Barbel, could be any. I hope the guy doesn't get any grief for the recognisable background. Hope it's from a tidal stretch as those rivers push through like beasts, that will get the circus spinning like tops :D
