I’m almost sure that this was an unexpected Barbel that I hooked on my 13ft Acolyte Ultra Float rod when I was trying to target Roach, Dace and Chub using 3lb line and a size 18 hook.

Prolly would be once you'd scaled the decent and got in position and fishing. The river is wide there and I walk along the edge and fish round a feature infront of me. It's not on the big clubs books though, it's the other club of which I told you i'm a member.
I have to book a guest in advance but can take you on though if you ever do fanct it.

Some of my mobile fishing platforms, had several over many years. The RN supplied the biggest, old frigate, but a great fishing platform. Fished Norway, Sweden, the Med, Belize, Gulf of Mexico and many exotic islands along the way.









and now my little river explorer the Spearfish



Life is just not the same without a wee boat!

Chrissh,
I see you had a permit, wonderful fighting fish. On a family holiday I managed a few hours to myself and got a morning on a guided boat. We found the permit in numbers - one of the most memorable fishing trips of my life!

I've only ever caught one of these weird fish - out of the canal on a single caster on a size 20
