Not sure what the circumstances of this were but I know I definitely wouldn't have been targeting Carp and it was a long time ago as I'm using a fixed spool reel, the make of line is a dead give away though.

I still have the three identical reels with the same line on them from several years ago and the heaviest b/s is 4.4lb...

Been getting my morale boost in the garden trying to get shots of birds with my new camera. We have been living in this house 36 years and have always had Dunnocks in the garden which, since they have a life span of only two years, is slightly wonderful. Grayling are a bit of a rarity for me these days, I used to have a Matlock DAA book which took in some lovely stretches from Darley Dale down to Matlock Bath and I used to catch many back in the day.

It used to be a good value book with some stunning scenery, I quite fancy another punt at it...

One of the most pronounced features I ever came across on a river, thats a sheer drop off. … I’d wade to the edge which was inches deep and trot a float downstream into the “abyss”

And there's some on here that still don't have enough Sens(e) as to using it...........

Funny enough I want to get some 4.4lb,none in stock, gutted,i really like the 5.4lb for slider or float work where slightly better fish are expected...

I don't know if it's a 'good' floater Keith but it does, just as it will sink if I want to sink it.

That said I'm the least fussiest person in the world when it comes to line, as long as it is quality I'm happy and I use if for the stick on the river, waggler on stillwaters, bomb, feeder, short range, long range etc.

It might not be the best for a certain aspect but I reckon it's the best all rounder so it ticks my box for keeping things simple.

I also put lots and lots of line on my 'pins, I reckon well over a hundred yards (I use 500 or 1000yard bulk spools) without any bedding or other problems and leave the line on there season after season until they get so low I have to replace it on the basis that there's not much of it left... I'm a line hooligan! ;)

You may not think your not fussy when it comes to line, but purely on the basis you use pro-gold means you know what you want from a line,a bloody good reason for using it....

Yeah you're right Alan, probably better if I phrased in as much as I don't tend to use different lines for different things which makes each reel I have loaded with line wider in its range of applications eg. i'll use the same line in a particular b/s for tip fishing or stick float fishing where, if you wanted to use specialist lines for each purpose, they'd be completely different lines.

ProGold for me is the best all rounder and I am fussy about using that, I appreciate people have their own favourites which will be different.

I think I may have all the 4.4lb, I've just found 4 x 500 yard spools...

This conversation prompted me to go and have a look what I've got left, I've had the 5.4 in the past but don't currently have any although I've got a spool of 6 which is near enough for me...

I reckon I've searched around on the net when needing a particular strength and, knowing how tricky it can be to get hold of, added on any other sizes they might have without checking what I've already got :eek:mg:

Enjoying a spot of Roach fishing on a late Spring morning, the light breeze and soft ripple were just right...

Ha ha... Nothing like what you might think I can assure you.

Having said that I could do with going but determined to keep using the small grocery store I use until this thing's calmed down a bit.

I did have a look around for the 4.4lb strength you were after but couldn't find any either, if you let me know your details when it's safe to go back in a post office i'll send you a spool over :)

I wonder why ProGold is so difficult to get hold of in general?

It’s my favourite line for fishing for large species and has been for quite a few years now, however not on my centrepins for trotting though (I use Dave Harrel Pro Float for that); I didn’t realise that Pro Gold was a good trotting line as well.

Keith

I'm with you Kieth, as much as I prefer Pro-Gold for most aspects of fishing I tend to use Floatfish for trotting. Not tried the DH Pro Float yet but will when the spools of FF run out as I have only heard positive opinions as to it's qualities.....

This Pike seemed to have lost a lot of weight recently, gave me a cracking run on a two inch Roach...

My first ever Zander, gave me a real shock as I was wobbling a deadbait for Pike at the time and it was the classic hit where you feel the bump, let the bait fall and await the pick up a few moments later...

how do you spell patrick in gaelic

It has a lot to answer for too, I consider them a handsome and admirable fish which has led to quite a preoccupation with them much to the expense of my Winter Pike fishing and a double figure fish still eludes me despite some nice ones along the way, many caught at very close quarters...

fallout strong armor

stacy keibler height and weight

Love those little Drennan Zepplers.

Great picture John, I thought I might post this as you might appreciate it. In my view the best of all the Victorian bird artists, Archibald Thornburn.
