I think the current situation throws the real character of people into very sharp focus. There are those that take their responsibility to wider society seriously, unfortunately there are many people who believe the world revolves around them and don't give a toss for others.
The lack of clarity in the current guidelines creates loopholes that certain people will look to exploit. I have been taking my 2 sons out for about an hour on our bikes, to ride through the woods close to home. I have attempted to do this responsibly, within the guidelines for exercise periods, and maintaining 2m+ distancing. We have been riding past one of the ponds I fish regularly, I have seen nobody fishing, but it does create the question why is it ok for us to cycle there? If the government brings in more draconian measures, forcing us to go into complete lockdown, with no outdoor exercise permitted, of course we will obey that. I can still travel to work on my bike if I want as I'm classed as a key worker and get some exercise from my commute. But I know people who already push things as far as they can, multiple shopping trips for non-essential things, 3 hour bike rides, etc.
The longer it continues like this the more comfortable people will feel "bending" the guidelines to suit what they want to do.
We have family members who are very ill with this virus, it has rammed home to us how vital it is to get things under control. I would struggle with never being able to leave the house except to go to work, but it is a small price to pay to save lives.
It has cheered me up looking at some of the threads on here, I cant wait to be fishing again!
Why bother getting worked up over somebody being a wind up merchant on a fishing forum? Look at the bigger picture, people posting helpful, positive and humorous stuff to provide some distractions during a difficult time.
