I tried to join online but a few gremlins put paid to that, though I am registered with them they asked me to pay via phone.

I fish for big game species most days, mainly barracuda.

SAA membership roled into the AT so technically a member from day 1.... have sent off DD forms as well (and enroled my son too).

Can't understand why anyone would not join to be honest.

I'm with you there Dave. I've not seen any argument to dissuade me from at least giving the AT a chance.

I've not joined but have thought about it, maybe I'm just needing a push and may well join later in the year. I guess that if they started a big campaign to stop eastern Europeans stealing and killing fish, or came out with a powerful message that looked like they were doing something about issues that effect the everyday angler then I would find it hard not to join. The worst thing that they could do is to take a softly softly approach to issues, they need to get an agenda going and talk about it forcefully, that way they will get support. Being quiet and expecting anglers to send them money won't work in my opinion.

I'm coarse!

Barry, if you click on here; www.anglingtrust.net and take a good look around ,you will find plenty about the issues you have raised, they are on it mate..........honest! but need your financial help by way of membership.

Yes, I've joined and couldn't wait to pay my £20 fee to help them get off to a flying start.

I'm a coarse and game angler.

Those who are holding back until they 'do something about east Europeans', 'clean up the river so and so', 'have a word with the Prime Minister about Blog's Pond', advertise in The Sun so as to get the message across to millions more anglers', etc, etc..................

......should all bear in mind that some day they may be able to do all that if enough of us join and give them the financial ability to do so.

Cynical Coarse angler, I never believe anything on a manifesto, and do not know anything about the guys who formed it. What are their credentials?

I have justcalled the Angling Trust.

As an ACA life member I have also full life membership of AT.

I suggest Gary that you look up the AT website. They will explain all you need to know. If you still are not happy, give them a call.

Sorry, but it really is time we got rid of our cynicism. Become open minded for goodness sake. Organisation like AT, similar to political parties, are what the members make them, and if you don't like such organisations, join them and change them from within. That's what democracy is all about.

Just out of interest, this is not a thread for argument, or justification, or vilification.

Please just say whether
 1. You have joined
 2. Do not intend joining
 3. Sitting on the fence for clarification or - perhaps you can't afford it yet.

Nota bene: NOT A THREAD FOR ARGUMENT!

Why the hell can't you people stick to the request? All I wanted to know was have you joined or not. Simple question, simple answer. No other postings please.

--------------------------------------------

Now, the interesting thing is, there are 29 responses (take away a few for post wasters) but there are 285 viewers of the thread (take away a few again for those that just like to look in)

That's about a 10% response whether positive or not, so what do the other 90% feel about it? NO - don't answer that as it wastes another post.

Because this is the more interesting side of the story, not whether you are or you aren't, but those that just couldn't care less or don't even want to know.

---------------------------------------------

As for me - no, I haven't joined yet. I'm sitting on the fence, BUT I'm probably still a member anyway by default. What we are doing is trying to get someone from AT to come to our next meeting (which we hope will be open to all local club officials) to do a presentation. So I am a little more positive about it if uncommitted still.

I have a preference for specialist (specimen seems to be out)angling but...

I'm an ANGLER Woody, as are we all, NO distinction. That's the main reason we're still having this debate, too many factions. Hopefully the AT has seenit's end, or at least we can see the start of its end.

Not joined as I have said before, should be individual membership only, the ACA has gone, so that's a lose, was never a member but sent them donations in the passed, can't do that now.

Time will tell, but good luck as I have alway's said.

Funny this thread hasn't gone down the pan like the other one yet, but BOB and Windy still have time to change that/forum/smilies/smile_smiley.gif

Ray, I have already made a couple of comments on this thread, so bang goes that particular ,redundant and pointless snipe.

As for making donations to (ACA) nowFish Legal, you CAN give them some of your money if you wish, the same applies to Angling Trust, they will/do accept donations , as I keep repeating on this site and elsewhere, go to www.anglingtrust.net and READ the entire contents to keep informed, if you cannot find a specific answer to any of your query's ,do what I do, and contact them, speak to the people in the know, do not rely on websites like this or others for information, because just as you are in error, so are many, many others that comment without the facts./forum/smilies/wink_smiley.gif
