On another thread, I mentioned keeping casters in my pellet pump, it's to my mind the best way to keep casters in the best condition possible. Folk for years have kept casters in water successfully, the trouble with keeping casters in water is the shell goes soft. Noticeable when they are hooked.
Casters soon sour if kept in water, the pellet pump just removes the air. Giving the casters five minutes every day keeps them fresh, they will keep their colour at the stage they were when first pumped. If you don't have a pellet pump BAD LUCK.
The only time I would put water over my casters is if they start to float, by putting them in water overnight they will all be sinkers in the morning. Still, remove them from the water because they will soon sour.
