Thread: An appeal

A mate of mine has just been told his mum has terminal cancer, and has about eight weeks left. She's a keen carp angler, and he's trying to find a water with accommodation right on the bank - she's not well enough to bivvy up.

He's asked me to find such a water, but I thought I'd throw the question open to you chaps. I really want to help him out - he's had a rough time himself recently but it's absolutely typical of him to put his mum first.

This is quite genuine. I've also emailed Mr Marsden to see if he knows anywhere but, clearly, time is of the essence.

You may find this same thread in Carp but post here, please

Any area. He's based near Peterborough, so I'll take a look at Waveney. Keep them coming, gents, if you'd be so kind.

Looks as if Waveney no longer rents the lodges - everything says they're for sale, no details of renting.

You could try the log cabin HereMark.

There are carp in there, but they don't go large. Its more a general mixed fishery. Not too far from Peterbough - South Linconshire.

Thisis its 'sister' site, but I've never visited it so can't tell you alot.

I found Lowfields, thanks Mark, and I'll pass it on.

    Anyone fished at the following:

    Cawood Park, W. Yorks

    Celtic Lakes, Ceredigion

    Reepham Fishery, Norfolk

    Forda, Bude

    York Lakeside Lodges, York

Maybe somthing Here, as another option.

What about Billing or Cosgrove....... if there still going - it 20 years since I visited?

I've had a short break at Forda, bude, with my wife and two kids. It's a lovely place and the owners seen to be very nice as well.

we stayed in an A-Frame lodge/house, very nice, the only thing I could possibly moan at, would be that the lodge was a little bit cold ( it was march though ).

The fishing, they have three lake's, one small one in front of the lodge's, which I think only had silver's in it, the other two just a little further had carp in. caught carp in both to about 8lb ish.

    Hope this help's.
